Remove.bg
One-click background removal for product photos and portraits.
About
Remove.bg is an AI tool that isolates the subject of a photo and removes its background in seconds, producing a transparent image ready for a new backdrop or a product listing. It also offers background replacement, bulk processing and an API for automated workflows. Note that the standalone remove.bg site was announced to close on 1 December 2026, with background removal moving into Canva, so check current availability before buying credits.
Key features
- Automatic background removal from photos in a few seconds
- Transparent PNG downloads for use in other designs
- Background replacement with colours, images or custom designs
- Bulk processing and an API for automated image workflows
- Plugins and integrations for tools such as Photoshop and Figma
- Strong handling of tricky edges such as hair and fur
Pricing
Free previews; subscription from $9/month for 40 credits; pay-as-you-go from $3 for 3 credits
Prices change — check the official pricing page. The standalone site was announced to close on 1 December 2026, and unused credits were announced to expire at that point.
Best for
Sellers, marketers and designers who need fast, clean cutouts for product photos, portraits and social graphics.
Limitations to know
AI cutouts can still miss fine detail or struggle with complex scenes, so check important images before publishing them. Downloads at full resolution use paid credits, and unused credits were announced to expire when the standalone site closes on 1 December 2026, so do not stockpile them.
What users like
- Very fast results with no editing skill required
- Clean edges on hair and fur compared with many rivals
- Useful API and bulk processing for product catalogues
What users complain about
- Credit system running out sooner than expected on image-heavy work
- Full-resolution downloads behind payment while free previews stay low resolution
- Uncertainty around the announced closure of the standalone site
