How to use
- Put each green letter in its exact position, with _ for empty spots.
- Put each yellow letter in the position where you guessed it, with _ elsewhere: the solver keeps the letter but bans it from that spot.
- Type your grey letters as a plain list.
- Click Solve Wordle and read how many answers remain.
About this tool
Copy the colours from your Wordle board into the matching rows: green letters are confirmed in their exact positions, yellow letters are in the word but were guessed in the wrong position, and grey letters are ruled out. The solver keeps only the 5-letter words that fit all three sets of clues, and reports how many possibilities remain. If a letter is both confirmed and grey, the confirmed clue wins. Results come from a built-in starter word list, not a full dictionary — rarer words may be missing, and that limit is stated in the results too.
Frequently asked questions
What if a letter is both yellow and grey?
The confirmed clue wins: a letter shown yellow or green is never banned by also appearing grey. That combination usually means the answer contains the letter fewer times than you guessed it.
Are the results guaranteed Wordle answers?
No. They are strong candidates from a starter word list, not a full dictionary, so rarer words may be missing and an occasional listed word may not be a word Wordle itself would pick.
