How to Choose a Username You Will Not Regret
Your username follows you everywhere on a platform, so it is worth a minute of thought. Here is what to aim for.
What is the Username Generator?
This tool builds three username suggestions from a word you type in, in the style you choose: simple for everyday accounts, gamer for play, or professional for work. Leave the word blank for a random starting point, and always check availability on the platform you plan to use.
How to use it
- Type a keyword if you have one, or leave it blank.
- Choose the style that fits the account.
- Press Generate usernames and check availability on your platform.
Worked example
With the keyword maple and style Simple, you get: maple, the_maple, and maple_daily. Switch to Gamer for maple_plays, mapleGG, and its_maple.
Should my username match across platforms?
Matching names make you easier to find, so use the same name wherever it is free. If your first choice is taken, add one clear word rather than a string of numbers, so the name stays readable.
Frequently asked questions
Does this check if a username is taken?
No. Availability changes constantly, so check the name on the platform itself before you rely on it.
What makes a good username?
One that is short, easy to spell, and easy to remember, without numbers or symbols that make it hard to share aloud.
