Text to Hex: See the Bytes Behind Your Words

Text looks simple on screen and is bytes underneath. Hex shows that hidden layer in a form you can compare and copy.

What is the Text to Hex Converter?

Type any text and see each UTF-8 byte written as two hex digits, separated by spaces. It is useful for debugging encodings, checking what a system really received, or learning how characters map to bytes. Accented letters and emoji use more than one byte, so their hex output is longer than one pair per character.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste your text.
  2. Click Convert to Hex.
  3. Read the byte pairs from left to right.
  4. Copy the hex string for your log or test.

Worked example

Converting Hi gives the hex string 48 69.

What is the hex for Hi?

H is byte 0x48 and i is byte 0x69, so Hi encodes as the space-separated hex string 48 69.

Frequently asked questions

Why is an emoji longer than two hex digits?

UTF-8 encodes emoji with several bytes, so one visible character can produce several hex pairs.

Are uppercase and lowercase hex the same value?

Yes. Hex digits a to f mean the same in either case; this tool uses lowercase pairs.
