Text Compare Guide: Spotting Wording Changes Quickly
Learn how word-set comparison highlights additions and removals between two versions.
What is the Text Compare / Diff Checker?
This tool compares the words in two texts, ignoring case and edge punctuation. It lists the words found only in the first text, only in the second, and how many words they share. It is a quick way to spot wording changes without reading both versions line by line.
How to use it
- Paste the original text into the first box.
- Paste the revised text into the second box.
- Click Compare and review the words that differ.
Worked example
For the sample, the tool reports 6 shared unique words, words only in the first text brown and jumps, and words only in the second text red and leaps.
Can this replace a full line-by-line diff?
No. It is a quick overview of changed vocabulary. For exact edits in order, a line-based diff tool gives more detail.
Frequently asked questions
Does word order matter?
No. This is a word-set comparison, so it shows which words changed, not where they moved.
Are capitalised words treated as different?
No. Case is ignored and edge punctuation is stripped before comparing.
