How to Make an SVG Blob Shape

Blobs add soft, organic decoration to otherwise boxy layouts. This guide explains point count and variation so you can shape blobs that fit your design.

What is the SVG Blob Generator?

Blobs are soft, irregular shapes that add organic decoration behind headings, avatars and cards. Pick a fill color, how many points shape the outline, and how much each point may vary, and this tool draws a new smooth blob each time you run it. Because the outline is random, every run gives a different shape in the same style.

How to use it

  1. Enter a fill color as a hex value.
  2. Set how many points shape the outline and how much they may vary.
  3. Click Generate blob SVG and copy the snippet into your page.

Worked example

With a #6D28D9 fill, 8 points and a variation of 30, the result is an SVG snippet with a 200 by 200 viewBox and a single smooth closed path filled with #6D28D9. The exact path points are random, so each run draws a different blob in the same style.

Where do blobs work best?

Behind avatars, headings and small cards, where a soft shape adds warmth without competing with the content. Keep them subtle and low-contrast for backgrounds.

Frequently asked questions

Will I get the same blob every time?

No. The outline points are random, so each run draws a fresh blob. Copy a snippet you like before running it again.

Can I resize the blob?

Yes. Change the width and height on the SVG element and the shape scales cleanly, since it is vector art.
