Spelling Practice Quiz: Clues First, Answers Second
Spelling improves by writing words from memory, not by copying them. Clues force the recall, and a separate answer key keeps the check honest.
What is the Spelling Practice Quiz?
Choose a difficulty level and how many words you want, and the quiz gives you a clue for each word to spell, followed by a clearly labelled answer key to check yourself. The word lists are original practice sets: everyday words at the easy level, longer familiar words in the middle, and trickier spellings at the hard level.
How to use it
- Choose a difficulty level.
- Set how many words to practise.
- Click Start Spelling Quiz.
- Spell each word from its clue, then check the answer key.
Worked example
An easy 5-word quiz asks for apple, banana, garden, pencil, and river from their clues, with the answers listed in a labelled key.
How does a clue-based spelling quiz work?
You read a short clue, write the word you think fits, and only then compare it with the labelled answer key at the end.
Frequently asked questions
Can I reuse the same quiz?
Yes. Cover the answer key, spell the words again, and uncover it only when you have finished the whole set.
Which level should I start at?
Start easy and move up when you spell a full set correctly without checking the key.
