How to Join Lines Copied from a PDF

Text copied from a PDF often breaks in the middle of sentences, which makes it hard to quote or edit. This guide shows how joining the lines restores a normal paragraph.

What is the Remove Line Breaks Tool?

Remove Line Breaks Tool turns multi-line text into a single paragraph. It is useful for text copied from PDFs and narrow columns, where sentences are split across lines and need joining back together.

How to use it

  1. Paste your multi-line text into the box.
  2. Click Remove Line Breaks.
  3. Copy the joined paragraph.

Worked example

For the three lines 'Line one', 'Line two' and 'Line three', the output is 'Line one Line two Line three'.

Why does PDF text come out broken into lines?

PDFs store text in visual lines rather than flowing paragraphs, so copying preserves those line endings. Joining the lines with single spaces rebuilds the paragraph the way it was meant to read.

Frequently asked questions

Does it add a space between joined lines?

Yes. Lines are joined with a single space, so words at the end of one line do not run into words at the start of the next.

What happens to blank lines?

Blank lines are dropped, so empty gaps do not leave doubled spaces in the joined paragraph.
