Print Sizes: From Pixels to Inches
Pixels alone do not tell you how big a print will be — DPI decides that. This calculator converts any image to its physical size.
What is the Print Size Calculator?
Enter an image's pixel width and height plus a print resolution, and the tool gives the physical print size in inches and centimetres. Higher DPI means a smaller but sharper print from the same pixels.
How to use it
- Enter the image width and height in pixels.
- Enter the print DPI, such as 300.
- Click Calculate Print Size.
Worked example
A 3000 x 2400 px image at 300 DPI prints at 10 x 8 inches, or 25.4 x 20.32 cm.
How large does a 3000 x 2400 image print at 300 DPI?
Divide each side by 300: 10 x 8 inches, which is 25.4 x 20.32 cm.
Frequently asked questions
What DPI should I use for photos?
300 DPI is the standard for quality photo prints; 150 DPI is acceptable for large posters viewed from a distance.
Does raising DPI in software add detail?
No, it only spreads the same pixels thinner or thicker; real detail comes from the original pixel count.
