Pong Game: The Original Bat-and-Ball Rally
Pong is the simplest video game ever made, and still a good test of reactions: keep the ball in play, and force the other paddle to miss.
What is the Pong Game?
Set a difficulty and a number of rally steps, and the tool steps a ball between two paddles, tracking the score. In the browser, a live canvas game appears below the result: move your paddle with the mouse or arrow keys and try to beat the computer paddle.
How to use it
- Pick a difficulty.
- Set how many rally steps to simulate.
- Click Simulate Pong; in the browser, play the live canvas game.
Worked example
On easy, 30 rally steps move the ball back and forth between the paddles, with the score updating whenever a paddle misses.
How do I move my paddle in the browser?
Move your mouse up and down over the canvas, or use the up and down arrow keys.
Frequently asked questions
What happens when a paddle misses?
The other side scores a point and the ball resets to the centre.
Does the difficulty change the computer paddle?
Yes. Harder levels move the ball faster, so you have less time to react.
