Pomodoro Timer: Focus in Short, Steady Bursts

Big tasks feel smaller when they are cut into timed rounds. This timer plans the rounds and counts them down for you.

What is the Pomodoro Timer?

Pomodoro Timer splits work into short, focused bursts separated by breaks, which makes long tasks easier to start and sustain. Set your focus length, break length, and number of rounds, and the tool lays out the full session plan. In a browser it counts each interval down live; outside a browser it simply shows the plan so you can follow it with any clock.

How to use it

  1. Choose your focus length, break length, and number of rounds.
  2. Press Start Session to see the full plan.
  3. Work through each focus interval, rest on each break, and repeat for all rounds.

Worked example

Set focus 25 minutes, break 5 minutes, and 4 rounds, and the plan reads: Focus: 25 min, Break: 5 min, Rounds: 4, Total: 120 min.

How long is a classic Pomodoro session?

Four rounds of 25 minutes of focus with 5-minute breaks add up to 120 minutes in total, breaks included.

Frequently asked questions

Why 25 minutes of focus?

It is long enough to make progress and short enough to stay fresh. Adjust it to suit the task.

What if I get interrupted?

Pause, note where you stopped, and restart the interval rather than stretching it silently.
