Polygon Angles: Sums, Interior Angles, and Exterior Angles

Polygon angle sums follow one clean rule, and regular polygons split that sum evenly. This calculator applies the rule for any side count.

What is the Polygon Angles Calculator?

Enter the number of sides, at least 3. The tool uses the standard rule that interior angles sum to (n - 2) x 180 degrees, then divides for a regular polygon and shows the exterior angle too. It describes regular polygons only; irregular ones share the sum but not the per-angle value.

How to use it

  1. Enter the number of sides (3 or more).
  2. Click Calculate Angles.
  3. Read the sum and per-angle values.

Worked example

A hexagon (6 sides) has an interior sum of 720 degrees, 120 degrees per interior angle, and 60 degrees per exterior angle.

What are a hexagon's angles?

Interior angles sum to 720 degrees, 120 degrees each, with 60-degree exterior angles.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work for irregular polygons?

The sum is the same, but only regular polygons have equal interior angles.

Why do exterior angles sum to 360?

Walking around any polygon turns you through one full turn, whatever its shape.
