Plug Type by Country: Which Adapter Do I Need?

Plug shapes differ by country, and arriving without the right adapter is an avoidable annoyance. Check the types before you pack, and pair the answer with the voltage guide.

What is the Plug Type by Country?

Choose a country and the tool shows the plug types commonly used there, so you know which travel adapter to pack. This is a major-country reference: some countries use more than one type, and older buildings can differ, so verify before you travel and check your device's voltage too.

How to use it

  1. Choose a country.
  2. Click Show Plug Types.
  3. Pack the adapter that matches the listed types.

Worked example

The United Kingdom uses Type G plugs, with three rectangular pins.

Does one country always use one plug type?

No. Several countries use two or three types, so pack an adapter that covers every type listed for your destination.

Frequently asked questions

Is a plug adapter the same as a voltage converter?

No. An adapter only changes the plug shape. If voltages differ, you may also need a converter or a dual-voltage device.

Should I verify before travelling?

Yes. This is a major-country reference, and older buildings or regions can differ.
