Paver Counts: From Patio Area to Stone Numbers
Paver size decides the count as much as the patio does. This post shows the area division and the edge-cut allowance.
What is the Paver Stones Calculator?
Enter the patio area and the size of one paver in centimetres, and the tool divides the area by the paver area, adds a 10 percent cutting allowance, and rounds up. The allowance covers edge cuts and breakage, and it is shown separately.
How to use it
- Measure the patio area in square metres.
- Enter the paver length and width in centimetres.
- Click Count Pavers.
Worked example
12 sq m with 20 cm by 20 cm pavers needs 300 pavers exactly, or 330 with the 10 percent allowance.
Do shaped patios need more allowance?
Yes. Curves and angles create more offcuts, so allow 15 percent or more for curved edges.
Frequently asked questions
Should I include the joint gap?
If joints are wide, add the joint to the paver size for a closer count; for narrow joints the difference is small.
What about a spare few?
Keep spares for future repairs, since batches can vary in shade.
