How to Audit the Links on a Page

Links are easy to accumulate and easy to neglect. Learn a quick extraction routine for spotting bloat, dead ends and mixed URL styles.

What is the Link Analyzer?

The Link Analyzer pulls every anchor href from pasted HTML, counts them and splits absolute URLs from relative and anchor links — useful for audits and broken-link hunts.

How to use it

  1. Paste your HTML.
  2. Click Analyze links.
  3. Review the extracted URLs.

Worked example

A page with 34 links — 22 internal, 12 absolute — is a typical healthy profile for a guide.

How many links should a page have?

There is no fixed limit. Every link should earn its place; audit for orphans, duplicates and outdated destinations instead of counting.

Frequently asked questions

Does it check if links are broken?

No — it extracts and counts. Click through or use a crawler to verify each destination.

Does it read links in plain text?

Only anchor tags in HTML are extracted. Plain-text URLs are not links to a browser.
