How to Use Invisible Characters

Invisible characters can help with spacing and testing, but they are easy to lose track of. This guide explains the common types and when each one helps.

What is the Invisible Character Generator?

Some invisible characters are useful for spacing, testing, or formatting, but they are hard to work with precisely because you cannot see them. This tool generates the character you choose, repeated as many times as you ask, and shows it between brackets with a clear note. That way you always know the result worked, even though the characters themselves are invisible.

How to use it

  1. Choose an invisible character from the list.
  2. Enter how many copies you want.
  3. Click Generate invisible characters and copy the bracketed section.

Worked example

Choosing Hangul filler with a count of 10 returns 10 invisible characters shown between square brackets, plus a note explaining that the characters between the brackets are invisible by design.

What is the difference between a zero-width space and a word joiner?

A zero-width space allows a line break at that point without showing a space, while a word joiner does the opposite and discourages a break. Pick the one that matches the spacing behaviour you want.

Frequently asked questions

Why are the characters shown between brackets?

Without the brackets the result area would look empty, even when the tool worked. The brackets prove the characters are there.

Are invisible characters safe to paste everywhere?

Most apps accept them, but some platforms strip or normalise invisible characters, so check the result after pasting.
