Guitar Tuner Tones: Match Each String to Its Reference Pitch

A tuner app is not always to hand, but a reference tone is enough to tune by ear. This tool gives you the pitch for every standard string.

What is the Guitar Tuner Tones?

Tuning by ear is easier with a steady reference pitch. Choose a string and this tool shows its note and frequency, and in the browser it can play that tone through WebAudio so you can match it. Outside the browser it still lists the pitch, so the reference is never lost.

How to use it

  1. Enter your values in the fields provided.
  2. Click Show Tuning Pitch.
  3. Read the result and adjust an input if you want a different outcome.

Worked example

The low E string (E2) tunes to 82.41 Hz, and the high E string (E4) tunes to 329.63 Hz.

What frequency is the low E guitar string?

Standard tuning puts the low E string at E2, which is 82.41 Hz, four octaves below the high E string in pitch terms.

Frequently asked questions

What do I enter to get a result?

Fill in every field with your own numbers or choices, then run the tool. Empty number fields count as zero, so check them before you trust the output.

Can I reuse this result elsewhere?

Yes. The result is calculated in your browser from the values you entered, so you can copy the numbers into your own notes or plan.
