How to Get a Clean Green Screen Cutout
Good lighting matters more than software. Here is how to shoot for a clean key.
What is the Green Screen Background Remover?
Upload a photo shot against a green screen and set the sensitivity for how aggressively green pixels are removed. Pixels greener than their red and blue neighbours beyond the threshold are replaced with transparency, white, or black. Even lighting works best, since shadows on the screen can leave green fringes.
How to use it
- Upload a green-screen image
- Set sensitivity and replacement
- Download the cutout
Worked example
At 60 percent sensitivity with Transparent selected, green-screen pixels become transparent while the subject stays, ready to layer over a new background.
What sensitivity should I start with?
Start near 60 and raise it only if green remains, since too high a value eats into green parts of the subject.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there a green fringe?
Uneven lighting or spill on the subject leaves border pixels that are only partly green.
Does it work on other colours?
This tool targets green only. Other backgrounds need a different keying method.
