2048 Game: Slide, Merge, and Chase 2048
2048 is a sliding puzzle with one rule that matters: equal tiles merge. Plan your slides so the big tiles end up in a corner you can feed.
What is the 2048 Game?
Start from a small seeded board and enter moves as letters: L, R, U, and D, separated by commas. Equal tiles merge when they slide together, and every merge adds to your score. In the browser, arrow buttons below the result let you keep playing from the same board.
How to use it
- Enter moves as letters L, R, U, and D, separated by commas.
- Click Play Moves to see the board after those moves.
- In the browser, use the arrow buttons to keep sliding and merging.
Worked example
From the seeded starting board, sliding left and then right rearranges the tiles; any equal tiles that meet merge and add to the score (0 in this sample run, where no merge occurs).
How do merges work in 2048?
When two tiles with the same number slide into each other, they combine into one tile of double the value, and that value is added to your score.
Frequently asked questions
What happens after each move?
A new tile worth 2 (usually) or 4 appears in a random empty square.
When does the game end?
When the board is full and no slide can merge or move a tile, there are no moves left.
