Currency Converter: Convert With a Rate You Enter
Live rates look convenient until they are stale. This converter is honest about it: you enter today's rate, and it does the arithmetic, plainly labelled.
What is the Currency Converter?
Enter an amount, the currency pair, and today's rate yourself, and the tool multiplies them out. This converter has NO live exchange rates: rates move through the day, so the honest version asks you to enter the rate from your bank or a rate source you trust, and labels the result as a calculation from your rate, not a market quote.
How to use it
- Enter the amount to convert.
- Choose the two currencies.
- Enter today's rate from a source you trust, then click Convert Currency.
Worked example
Converting 100 USD at a rate of 280 PKR per USD gives 28,000 PKR, and the result is labelled as coming from the rate you entered.
Why does this converter not fetch live rates?
So it never shows a stale rate as if it were current. You enter the rate from your bank or a trusted source at the moment you need it.
Frequently asked questions
Will the converted amount match what my bank charges?
Not exactly. Banks add fees and their own margins, so treat the result as an estimate before charges.
What if I enter the rate the wrong way round?
Check the label: the rate means how many units of the To currency one unit of the From currency buys.
