How to Count Business Days Between Two Dates
Calendar days and working days are very different things when a deadline is involved. Here is how to count only the days you actually work.
What is the Business Days Calculator?
This calculator steps through every day from the start date to the end date and counts only Mondays to Fridays. It is handy for deadlines, leave planning and project timelines. Very long ranges over 10 years are rejected so the count stays fast and meaningful.
How to use it

Worked example
From 2026-01-05 (Monday) to 2026-01-09 (Friday) the tool gives: 5 business days and 5 calendar days.
How many business days are there from Monday 5 January 2026 to Friday 9 January 2026?
There are 5 business days in that week, Monday through Friday. Because neither endpoint falls on a weekend, the whole five-day stretch counts. A period spanning a weekend would count fewer business days than calendar days.
Frequently asked questions
Are public holidays excluded?
No. Only Saturdays and Sundays are skipped; public holidays vary by country, so add those yourself if you need them excluded.
Are both the start and end dates counted?
Yes, if the start or end date falls on a weekday it is included in the count.
