Baby Feeding Schedules: A Weight-Based Starting Point
New parents often want a number to start from. This post explains the 150 ml per kilogram guide and why hunger cues still rule.
What is the Baby Feeding Schedule Calculator?
For young babies, a common rough guide is about 150 ml of milk per kilogram per day, shared across regular feeds. Enter weight and age band and the tool works out a daily total and a per-feed amount. This is a general guide only, not medical advice — follow your paediatrician's advice and your baby's hunger cues.
How to use it
- Enter the baby's weight in kilograms.
- Choose the age band.
- Click Build Feeding Plan.
Worked example
A 5 kg baby in the 0-3 month band gets a daily guide of 750 ml across 8 feeds, about 93.75 ml per feed.
Should I wake a baby for a feed?
For very young babies, clinicians often advise regular feeds, but individual advice varies, so follow your paediatrician over any calculator.
